This is it! Your moving day has finally arrived and you will soon get a fresh start by relocating to a different place. But there are still a couple of more hours to go before the moving van pulls up in front of your home. Yet, you are filled with excitement and you can barely sit still. Well then, find something to do. Still, do not waste your energy on doing unpractical things such as watching TV or staring at your phone. Now is the time to make sure you:
- Have properly packed your belongings;
- Are ready for arrival of the movers;
- Know all the clauses included in your contract with the moving company;
Provide an easy passage for the moving vehicle
Go outside and see whether the moving team will be able to park close to your doorstep. This means that you should park your own car on the other side of the street, for example. Also, if you are moving in the winter, clear the snow on your driveway. It is important that the movers can park the van as close to your home as possible. In that way, they will be able to quickly and safely load your items on the vehicle. Otherwise, they may need to first stack all of your moving boxes outside before they can start loading them and preparing them for transportation. This may expose your possessions to harsh weather conditions and will make them an easy target for robbers.

Prepare for the arrival of the movers
Remember that movers are humans too. So, they may need to use the bathroom or drink a glass of water. Be thoughtful and leave soup and a towel in the bathroom which they can use. Also, have a few bottles of water ready in case someone gets thirsty. Some clients even offer their team of moving pros snacks. That, of course, is up to you. But if you are looking for something to do to pass your time before the move, consider making a few sandwiches. That act of kindness will be highly appreciated.
Have your items packed and ready
By this time, you should have already packed all of your items. Hopefully, you have used a reliable packing supply delivery service in London and you have crossed that task off of your list. Still, you can take a good look around the house to make sure that you are not forgetting something. People often leave behind keys and documents which is why double-checking is a must. Also, see if you have labelled all of your cardboard boxes. If you haven’t, now is the time to do that.
Reread your contract
By now, you should have properly familiarised yourself with the contract you’ve signed with your moving company. However, you can still reread it to see if it has any special clauses that you have missed. For example, you may be required to tip the movers a certain amount of money. If you are not sure about something related to the removal service you are using, check your contract again.
